Our Plans for the Coming Weekend

There is alot happening in the local Messianic world this coming weekend and we just want everyone to know what's going on with little ole Shomrei Brit over the Holy Days. Our plan is to go down to Waco with Mishkan Etz Chaim for the Sabbath and share their program. So, that means that we won't be having any services at Shomrei Brit. We will not be staying over Saturday night.

Sunday afternoon we will be meeting with Michael and Teresa Arra in their baby dedication being held in Hurst. There is an announcement of this event on the Shomreibrit.org website. The Messianic community is invited. They will be ending their program at 5pm. We will want to look out for the new moon. I don't know if we will just go back home to do that or if there are others who might be there who have an interest. We would look forward to sharing this with other believers.

Monday we plan to spend at our home celebrating Yom Teruah. We know of a few folks who plan to join us. Any believers in the community are welcome. Please give us a call if you plan to join us just so we know how to plan. We don't have any "service" planned. We just plan to have a holy convocation and recognize this mo'ed commanded by YHVH.

I have heard some folks talking about siting the moon on Saturday night. While I guess this is remotely possible, the moon will be less than 1% visible in Eretz Israel and this would be our point of reference for setting the mo'ed. If you are interested in understanding the moon visibility issue for yourself, let me recommend to you this US Naval Observatory website:

Finally, we plan to spend Yom Kippur, which we believe will be on October 4 (starting the previous evening), at our home. This will be a quiet time of prayer and meditation without the usual feasting that goes on over here. If you would like to join us in that, you are surely welcome. Once again, please give us a call to let us know how to plan.

Mishkan Etz Chaim in Waco is planning a Yom Teruah program...

Our Friends down in Waco are planning a program for Yom Teruah and we would like to share their information with you.

Brethren,

This first week in the month of Elul brings great anticipation for the body of believers. Sukkot plans are being finalized and the Sons of the Living God await the joy of the season. (Hosea 1:10; Romans 9:26)

Many of us have heard the wonderful teachings from Bill Cloud, Brad Scott and Rico Cortes recently. The insights they have offered work to make us all aware of the sensitive time we live in as we await the third day and the redemption of the Beloved.

Beloved, we exist in a scattered condition and exile. We now gather as small groups separated by miles and differences that often only the Father can sort out. But, from our isolated places we remember the sound of the shofar’s call. We are listening acutely and intensely for its final shout…a call to awareness, a shout for repentance and a joyful sound of ingathering.

In a few more days we will have the opportunity to do as our Father and Messiah commands…to gather at the first sight of the new moon of the seventh month, to remember His faithfulness, and to gaze at the beauty of His promises for our future. This is also our opportunity to express the reality of our faith and blessed hope: “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He Who promised is faithful; and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more, as you see the day drawing near.” Hebrews 10: 23-25

Bill Cloud, Brad Scott, and Rico Cortes will be in Waco September 23rd and 24th for Yom Teruah. Please join us for fellowship as we look for the Rosh Chodesh and hear the prophetic words of this season that these faithful servants will offer. We will discuss End Times Observations and explore areas of repentance needed within the body of believers.

Rico will speak on Shabbat and we will offer a special meal for the evening of the seventh day. Bill and Brad will speak on the first day of the week beginning at 10:00 am. We will adjourn at 7:00 pm.

We need to know how many people will join us for Shabbat dinner and how many will attend on Sunday. Registration is $30.00 per person for both days with dinner on Saturday included OR $10.00 per person for Sunday only. We will break for lunch. There are several fast food options in the area. The fees only cover the cost of food and beverage. The location will be at Hotel Waco, 1001 Martin Luther King Blvd, Waco TX 76704.

Please respond by email to: Shankins1@hot.rr.com or call Mishkan Etz Chaim at 254-772-4425.

We need to have a commitment from you or your group by September 10th. Registration fees must be received at Mishkan Etz Chaim, P.O. Box 23343, Waco TX 76702 no later than September 15th.

If you will need to find a hotel room for Saturday night, we can offer suggestions. Hotel Waco only has a few rooms available. Their telephone number is 254-753-0261.
