Torah Study / Midrash Resumes
As we have been discussing, we will resume our Torah Study / Midrash on Thursday evening, October 11. We will plan to start promptly at 7 pm and to close promptly at 8:30 pm. Unlike Shabbats, most of us have work commitments the next day and we want to be respectful of those needs.
We will plan to have this study time every Thursday at this time. Exceptions will be announced in advance here.
There is nothing particularly special about this being held on Thursday evenings. There seemed to be some mixed feelings about which night on which it ought to be held. As far as I am concerned, it can be anywhere from Tuesday through Thursday. So let me know how this is working for you.
The Torah portion that we will be studying this week is Noach. You can find it in your Bible from Gen 6:9 - 11:32. the Haftarah for this week is Isa 54:1 - 55:5. You can always find which Torah portion we are on at www.ShomreiBrit.org on the upper right side of the main page. Additionally, I hope to have written schedules available by this Shabbat.
I have posted a lengthy article on midrash style study. I hope you will take time to read it prior to Thursday. This is a model that I would like to use for our time together, except that we will be focusing on the current Torah portion for our subject matter.
