Shavuot Update (Yes, again)

We've gotten some questions from folks about park fees. When you get to the park gate, tell them you are with the Jacobson party at "Mustang Point Group Camp". There should be no gate fees whatsoever as long as you do this.

Shavuot Updates

Here are some updates on our Shavuot weekend...
  1. Michael Brickman will bring a message on Sunday.
  2. I am planning for Roger Norman, who is currently in Israel, to tell us about his trip. Please keep this a secret just between us, because I haven't asked him yet.
  3. Come self sufficient. While I imagine that we will want to eat together, there is no provision for anyone to do your cooking for you.
  4. Unless you are bringing a big program with you, I am anticipating a very low key event.
  5. If you are a Torah believer, you are welcome. Having said that, I have a simple request that you contact us so that we can know how many folks to plan for.
  6. Our camp area is huge. I guarantee you won't be crowded, unless you choose to be.
  7. Our camping area is designated "Mustang Point". It has limited services. Directly adjacent to our campground is a "vault" toilet. That is a fancy outhouse. Our camping area does have water and electricity. A very short way off is a flush toilet area. Showers will be available at the main park area. Do not be discouraged if this sounds primitive. It is a very beautiful site and I think you will agree that it is just fine for our purposes.
  8. There are six sets of water and electric for the group camp. First come, first served. Worst case is that we share water and electric. At this point there are two trailers coming.
  9. Here is a link to the campground location: http://tinyurl.com/2rhjtu
  10. Here are some links to the park: http://tinyurl.com/24jq72, http://tinyurl.com/2rfpnw
  11. I'm getting excited. Hope to see y'all there.

Torah Study Discontinued for the Summer

Seems like peoples schedules are getting really busy and folks don't have time. Considering this, we will be discontinuing our Thursday evening Torah group until further notice.

Shavuot Weekend (aka Memorial Day Weekend)

FREE!!
Thought that might get folks attention. OK, we have been a little tardy in getting something going for Shavuot. We will be recognizing Sunday, May 27 as Shavuot. We have had several folks ask about "doing something". Here's what we've got lined up....

We have arranged a group campsite at Mustang Park, located on Benbrook Lake. Our reservation goes from Friday at 3:00pm until Monday at 2:00 pm. We can accomodate up to 80 folks. This group camp has six individual campsites and an innumerable ability to pitch tents. Each campsite has electric, water and a covered picnic table.
This was a misunderstaning. We do have six sets of water and sewer. But there are not pads with individual pavillions.
Additionally, there is a good sized pavillion for joint eating, worship, talking, whatever. The area has a decent amount of shade and is right across the street from the lake. It is also directly next door to the restrooms, which have flush toilets and showers.
Oops. One more error. The toilets directly adjacent to our camp are "vault" toilets. A very short distance away are flush toilets. Showers are at the main camp area. We are hoping to rig an outside shower setup at our camping area.

This is not an "open" invitation. On one hand, we'd love to have everyone come. (Well, most everyone.) On the other hand, we need you to communicate with us your intentions. We absolutely need you to tell us if you are planning to come along with the number in your party and your intentions for accommodations. (trailer, tent, back of your pickup, whatever)

At this moment I have no program lined up. And frankly, it'll be up to y'all. Please let me know if you can provide anything to make the event more edifying.

This park doesn't have a lot of attractions. But it is a quiet place and very pretty. I'll bring my kayak for the kids.

A few years ago he had a series of weekends that we called Shabbat-in-the-park. It was very nice. But it had its season and then folks lost interest. If this is a good thing, we would be willing to revive that at Mustang Park. Y'all let us know. Please contact Drinda at (817) 558-7909 or drindaj@gmail.com.

New Moon Watch

This message was just passed to me by David Ehrman, a person that I have corresponded with off and on over the years, but never met. I think this is a worthy effort to support.

There will be a New Moon watch at Independence Park in Trophy Club this Thursday night May 17 from 8:30PM to 10:00PM.

Short edifying messages are welcome. Please avoid controversies, though, like differences over the calendar or sacred names.

Some of you may not recognize me. I will be out there with a telescope.

Independence Park is between Beck Intermediate School and Medlin Middle School at 501 Parkview Lane in Trophy Club Texas.

Hoping to see you there,
David Erman.

Psalm
81:1 Sing aloud unto God our strength: make a joyful noise unto the God of Jacob.
81:2 Take a psalm, and bring hither the timbrel, the pleasant harp with the psaltery.
81:3 Blow up the trumpet in the new moon, in the time appointed, on our solemn feast day.
81:4 For this was a statute for Israel, and a law of the God of Jacob.

Prayer Request

Cherish Clark's sister has been hit by a truck. We don't have more information than that. But we would request you to lift her and her family up in prayer.
