Some of you may remember that my family is out of town this sabbath. We will be having our regular service, however. Please come. Unfortunately, we won't be able to join you and thus, we won't be able to invite you to our home for lunch.

Y'all have a happy Sabbath!

Top Ten Bible Verses

OK, I have my first submission for someone's top ten verses. It's going to be sooo interesting to compare them. What will each of our top ten verses say about us? Scary, huh?

On Sabbath, December 22 our worship time will be devoted to going over each others and sharing. Consider this your first nag with plenty to follow.

Top Ten Verses Of The Bible

A few of you may know that I do a lot of reading in Biblical Studies. Recently there has been a flurry of discussion about folks "top ten verses". And these folks come at this from so many different directions. I am intrigued by this as I look at the various lists and ask myself, "what's so great about that text?" You can get a flavor of what is going on with this here or here.

Anyway, here is a challenge to y'all. What are your top ten Bible verses? (no more, no less) Beware that I am going to nag you to respond. Furthermore, I am going to share your results right here. (I'll let you be anonymous if you are shy.) Just email me with your list. It's going to be interesting to see how folks with our view of things compare to evangelicals, catholics, and every other flavor of believer. I am absolutely working on my own list. But I am going to withhold my list until the end so as not to influence the selections. By the way.... you might be surprised at my list.

Shabbat-In-The-Park

Some of our folks came up with the great idea to camp out this weekend at Lake Whitney. So, that's what we're going to do. There will be no services at Shomrei Brit this Sabbath. We will be at the lake with a group of believers. Please come join us! The plan is to meet there on Friday afternoon/evening and camp through Sunday morning sometime. Bring your own food and plan to be self sufficient. However, also plan to share as a group. Here is the scoop on the park from the Corps of Engineers website:

Location

McCown Valley Park is located on the east side, approximately halfway up the lake off of FM 1713 Spur.

Facilities

There are 54 campsites in McCown Valley Park. Thirty-one sites have water and 30 amp electrical hookups (sites 0 - 28, 33, and 35). Fourteen sites have water and 50 amp electrical hookups (sites 32, 34, and 36-47). Seven sites have water hookups only (sites 48-54). Five cabins are also available for overnight camping (sites 61-65). All sites have upright BBQ grills and a ground cooker/fire ring. The park has two restrooms with showers, horseshoe pits, a trailer dump station, and a large, three lane boat ramp. McCown Valley Park also contains one of the two swimming beaches on the lake. A large day use group shelter may be reserved by calling the Whitney Lake Office at 254/622-3332. For more information on the McCown Valley Day Use Group Pavilion and other group facilities available at Whitney Lake.

McCown Valley Day Use area also hosts an Equestrian Trail Riding Area, including equestrian camping and day use areas see McCown Equestrian Area. A new 29-site equestrian camping area is expected to open in 2004. Please contact the project office for more information. (254) 622-3332.
