Well, it was bound to happen. We now have our first Islamic honor killing right here. You can read the news stories about it here, here, here, here and here.
Thank you Ellen for your astute comments. I'd like to have an opportunity to explore this more with you. I would appreciate it if you would email me with your email address. You can find my email address on this page: http://www.shomreibrit.org/whatwhenwhere.htm
(I'm sorry, I have give you my email address this way to prevent the bots from harvesting it for spam purposes.)
Anyway folks, it turns out that Ms. Sheeley is uniquely qualified to comment on this issue due to her significant research in Jordan on the subject of honor killings. You can see her book at http://tinyurl.com/2wn3sb
It's interesting the emotional reactions I have received from what I perceive to be an even handed reporting of a significant event. I'd love to have more input from someone like Ms. Sheeley, who can speak authoritatively about the issue.

To one with a highly experienced eye, it is obvious the murders of the beautiful Said sisters were dishonor killings.
But dishonor killings are pre-Islamic and un-Islamic. They've more to do with culture than with faith.
